Give Me Real Country Music or Death

  • BACKSTORY
    • This song was originally called one headlight and was one of the first songs I wrote in Nashville. It was originally about a guy not being able to find love in the big city and he had a car with one headlight. Eventually I sent this over to Smith Curry to rerecord it. And what came out was this beautiful gem. A few years later I met with Chris Condon to give it a new intro and work on the guitar solo for it. I'm really pleased with this one. I even purchased a Two Rock Custom Reverb for Chris Condon to use. And then I revisited the lyrics in 2025 after Beyonce bought her Country album of the year award.

LYRICS

Written by Jonathan Pierce

Verse

They aren’t theories, we were right

Is the world round in your mind?

A local sun, a local moon;

Honey, we’ve all been lied to

So dry your eyes

Wipe your tears

Nasa made up space for years yet

Out of the darkness

We will dance

Let’s give love a fighting chance

The devils creep into our music

Let’s stand together, I know we can do it

Take my hand now, don’t be afraid

Let’s go dance the night away

Our love for real country music will be,

That one thing baby that will set us free yeah

Chorus

One little dance

One little kiss

One little moment of bliss

Let’s keep our eyes off that tv

They try to lock us into world war 3

We’re gonna shimmy

We’re gonna shake

We’re gonna two step as long as it takes

To keep our god, guns, & liberty

Tell Beyoncé, Give me real country music or death

Presolo

Our love will be

The one thing givin us clarity,

Our love for real country music will be yeah that one thing baby that’ll set us free

HOOoohhh yeah

Solo

Verse 2

Where do we go

Where are we now?

We should ask our God for help

Who’s telling lies and

What are the facts

He says it was all been a spiritual attack

To keep us down

And enslaved but

Nashville needs no pop from LA

they wanna Kill the connection that we have

with our maker

Chorus

One little dance

One little kiss

One little moment of bliss

Let’s keep our eyes off that tv

It’s full of lies, hate, and deceit

Lock up the Clinton’s

Fauci and Gates

We’re gonna two step as long as it takes

To keep our god, guns, & liberty

Tell Beyoncé, Give me real country music or death

Outro

Give me liberty or death

Real Country Music or Death
